Un poquito de la cultura

Hola!

On Saturday, February 27, 2010, a massive earthquake struck the South American country of Chile. This earthquake turned out to be one of the biggest earthquakes since 1900 with a magnitude of 8.8. Sadly, this earthquake has killed over 300 people so far and left hundreds of other people injured. Concepion is among the cities that were affected by the earthquake when a 15-story building collapsed and injured several people. After the earthquake struck, it was followed by numerous tsunamis and 76 aftershocks with magnitudes of 4.9 or greater which struck various areas in South America. In addition, Chile's captial, Santiago, experienced the loss of electricity, water, and telephones in addition to a chemical fire which required the evacuation of some people in Santiago. I hope the country of Chile can quickly recover from this devasting earthquake!

Adios!
